Sen. Bailey calls for civility despite opposition with legislation

State Senator Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) is calling for a peaceful discussion and debate on the actual merits of House Bill 4640, following news reports containing threats of violence to member of the legislature.

“While I vehemently disagree with the legislation and will continue working to defeat it, I deeply condemn any threats or acts of violence over disputes of public policy.

“We live in the greatest country on earth where we can argue, disagree, and debate each other over policy and stand up and push back when necessary, but any physical threats need to stop, and they need to stop now.”

House Bill 4640 is scheduled to be heard in the House Human Services Committee Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 9 a.m. To have your voice be heard in a civil manner, Sen. Bailey is encouraging those to fill out a witness slip online regarding your stance on the bill. You can do that by clicking here.
