State Senator Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) has released the following statement after the Senate passage of floor amendment 1 to House Bill 370 which repeals the Parental Notice of Abortion Act:
“The Democrats made it clear tonight that they believe parents don’t really matter in a child’s life. It sickens me that the Majority Party believes a child can have a serious, invasive medical procedure like an abortion without informing their parental guardian.
“The repeal of this legislation opens the door to sexual predators and to sex trafficking, making the children in our state vulnerable to these heinous crimes. Experts say that sex traffickers seek out states with no parental involvement laws.
“I am a family guy, and rather than bringing families together, the Majority Party is more interested in dividing families across our state. I support the parental notification law as it is currently written, and we must protect the fundamental right of parents to protect their children.”
